So this year was my 31st birthday. Gah I’m old!
This year we decided to rent a cabin in the poconos. Jill’s birthday is the day after ours so we all celebrated together!
As an old lady now, it’s nice to just hang out with my friends. We had a good time.
Where the house was there was a lake nearby. In the summer you could go there, but we wanted to see what it looked like in the winter.
I was surprised that it was frozen over. I mean it was cold, but not SUPER cold.
I braved the shores first. Once I realized it was REALLY frozen, I went further out.
Yay to still being adventurous at 31!
So this year the Rock and Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon had to change weekends. Why you ask? Well because the Pop decided to come to Philly the weekend it normally runs.
The weekend they chose to move it to? Halloween. What’s the following day? The New York City Marathon.
So in the end the race itself is this Saturday.
I originally wasn’t sure if I could run it. We were thinking of going to Wisconsin for a football game, but money is tight so we opted out. Now I will be running my 8th consecutive Rock and Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon!
This year the Rock and Roll races have each had their own sponsor. Philly is the AACR.
I am pretty excited to run because everyone is running in costume. I am a huge fan of running in costume. Even though I love running in costume, making them is long and sometimes pricey. Instead Cheryl and I will be reusing our Tinkerbell and Periwinkle costumes for the Princess 10K.
Bring it on Philly!
I am dedicating today’s Throwback Thursday to Assateague National Seashore!
Last year was my first trip there. It was a great weekend! We stayed on the bay side and had an all around good time camping and hanging out.
This weekend we are headed back to Assateague, but we were able to snag ocean campsites! I can’t wait to see the difference and have a relaxing beach weekend!
This weekend I am headed back to New Orleans!
My first trip to NOLA was in 2011 with my friends. We only stayed for the weekend, but that was more than enough time.
We went in June so it was HOT out. I had my first hand grenade, held a baby alligator, drank in the streets and partied all night long. It was an awesome (and expensive) trip.
This weekend I am going for a bachelorette party. I am excited, but the weather reports aren’t looking great. There is supposed to be storms, rain and flash floods. I am nervous about the flight (I am not the best on planes), but I have no doubt once we get down there we will have an amazing time!
Have you ever been to New Orleans?
Last weekend at my cousin’s birthday party my Aunt gave me some pictures. She had been cleaning her house and everyone knows I love pictures. I am like the family archivist.
It’s crazy to me that I still haven’t seen every picture of me. My family (all over the country) has all these old gems I have yet to add to my collection!
Classic 80’s baby! Who knows why I only had one lens in these awesome Batman glasses. We will probably never know. I am also a fan of the sideways hat!
Today’s Throwback Thursday post is dedicated to Easter, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and my love for chocolate.
Now really my #1 top favorite treat are Twizzlers. If they were good for you I would eat them every day.
That being said, who doesn’t love chocolate!?! (besides my friend Lauren, but she is weird). For everyone else in the world that understands my love of chocolate you probably remember a little movie called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the original not that dumb Johnny Depp one).
It was every kids dream!
Now if I did live in a world like Wonka’s I would probably be 500 pounds and look like Violet did after she ate those Everlasting Gobstoppers (except the whole blue part).
If you put chocolate in front of me DO NOT expect me to share.
Me as a baby after my parents gave me chocolate on my first Easter pretty much sums it up…
Baby chocolate monster!
But sadly, now that I am older I don’t get an Easter basket or candy unless I buy it for myself.
So the moral of the story is….Who wants to buy me chocolate?!!
This week seems to be going by pretty fast!
I cannot believe that in 13 days I will be on my way to Disney for the Princess Half Marathon!
In 2013 Cheryl and I vowed to run every runDisney race in Walt Disney World. The only one we didn’t do was the Everest Challenge. A few of our friends wanted to join us for the Princess Half Marathon. It was SO HOT in Florida in February, which I wasn’t really expecting. We all picked a Disney princess. I was Snow White, Cheryl was Jasmine, Jackie was Ariel, Michelle was Belle and Cindy was Cinderella.
I think everyone did an awesome job with their costume!
I am pretty much done with both of my costumes for this year. In 2014 they added the Enchanted 10K on Saturday and this year we will be participating in the Glass Slipper Challenge, which is both races.
I can’t wait to be in sunny, warm Florida after all this gross weather AND I can’t wait to show you my costumes!
Question: Have you ever run a Disney race? Which one?
Monday will be my 30th birthday. How crazy is that? I mean I don’t feel 30, but age is just a number right?
Today I am reminiscing birthdays of the past.
Do you remember back when you were younger? Birthdays were such a big deal. Figuring out where to have your party, who to invite, anticipating all the presents you would get….
Now as an adult birthdays are just a way to count the years slowly ticking by. I haven’t really celebrated my birthday too much over the past few years. Maybe out to a bar and for a while Cheryl and I would go away on our birthday.
This year we are celebrating for the first time in a long time. Cheryl and I invited all our friends to come out with us in New York City this weekend. I am keeping my fingers crossed the night goes off without a hitch, but it’s life so who knows. All I know is I am going to make the best of it and try to celebrate having a 3 in front of my age with all my friends.
P.S. I hope there is cake
Have you ever had an artist who’s music is so important to you? Songs you can listen to over and over and never get sick of? Well for me that is Andrew McMahon.
A few years ago I wrote about Andrew McMahon, his original band Something Corporate, his battle with leukemia (which he won) and his newest band Jack’s Mannequin.
Andrew is now a solo artist and just released a new album called In The Wilderness. If you haven’t heard it yet I suggest you get on it!
Well tomorrow I get to see Andrew live again! This time in Stroudsburg, PA (my old college stomping ground) and I am super excited!
Here’s a throwback to the first time I saw Andrew live on stage. In 2004 we went to Bloomsburg University to see Something Corporate perform. I will never forget him singing and dancing on his piano :)
I am trying to figure out if there is some way I can meet him (dream of mine for like ever), but so far no luck getting info. I guess I will just have to stalk him on Friday and hope.
Who is your favorite artist?
I cannot believe that this time last year I had just finished the Disney Dopey Challenge! That’s four days straight of running!
Cheryl and I went to Disney the weekend BEFORE the race so we were in Disney for an entire week. It was amazing and expensive, but well worth it. I am pretty sad I am not there right now because it is so cold here in New Jersey.
The trip had a bunch of fun moments, but my favorite was when I ran the Disney Marathon…dressed as Tigger…and got to take a picture WITH Tigger!
It really doesn’t get much better than that!
