So on Thursday when we got to California, we went straight to the expo.
The expo was pretty big. I didn’t really buy anything seeing as I have so much running stuff.
There were a lot of cool picture opportunities.
The expo was well organized. We all had to make sure we had coast to coast wristbands on until after the half so we got our medal.
Saturday morning we woke up around 4am. The race started at 5:30, but luckily we could walk to the start.
The best part about Disney races is getting to dress up!
I decided to be IronMan, even though the character is not licensed for Disney.
Before the race they had a little skit with Shield agents and Captain America.
Then it was time to head to the start.
We started in corral B. Even though we don’t run Disney races fast I like to start as early as possible so the character lines aren’t too long.
After the National Anthem..we were off!
The 10K route was great. We started off on the street, then went left through a shopping complex area and then left again down another street towards the park.
We entered Disneyland California Adventure through Cars Land. Jill and I ran ahead to stand in the character lines since we knew they were going to be long.
The first stop was Thor and the line was CRAZY. We decided to skip.
Instead we took fun pictures with the Mickey ferris wheel!
Then we ran towards the entrance of California Adventure towards the backlot area.
Right before we exited the park we saw Black Widow. Her line wasn’t bad so we stopped.
Going into Disneyland there was a high school band. There were actually a lot of bands and cheerleaders along the course.
Then we ran down Main Street to the castle.
On the way we saw the evil scientist from the skit earlier.
Then we ran through Tomorrowland and saw Hawkeye.
We went through Toon Town and through the back area. It was so cute all the custodial staff cheering for us with signs.
Then we came back through Fantasyland to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.
Not the same as running through Cinderella’s Castle, but still fun.
After the castle in Frontierland we saw Captain America.
We each took a picture with him and after he yelled “Avengers Assemble” and we got this gem.
Then we were headed out of Disneyland towards Downtown Disney.
Then we were done! 10K finished!
The 10K was a really great course. I felt like we were in the parks a majority of the time and there was always something to look at.
The race itself was a lot of fun, but I wasn’t used to the limited character stops. I guess making a race about a niche group kind of limits who can be out on the course.
6.2 miles down…13.1 to go! Race one of the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge complete.
