Last year I went camping at Assateague National Seashore for the first time and I had a blast!
This year we frantically booked spots 6 months in advance, but this time for beach camping. Last year we stayed in the bay, and although it was fun, it was a hassle getting to the beach. This year we wanted to camp on the beach!
I left work on Friday around 5pm and headed down to Maryland. A lot of other people took off work so they got there earlier. Luckily Cheryl got there early and set up most of the tents.
I got there just as it was getting dark and they already had a bonfire going.
It was a lot darker out than it had been the year before. We realized later that it was because it was a new moon so there was no moonlight!
We decided to head down to the water to hang out.
We drank and listened to music and harassed the soft shell crabs running around. It was a fun night. We went to bed around 1am, but we didn’t have to worry about being too loud because the ocean noise was overpowering!
Even though we went to bed late I still was up by 7am. I hate not being able to sleep in. I also look really pretty in the morning, don’t you think?
I was so excited that the weather was a lot nicer then it had been the year before. What a view to wake up to!
We made breakfast and then Mark, Jill, Cheryl and I went for a bike ride. Last year we ran the same path, but it was SO HOT out. I am glad we biked instead.
More on our bike adventure tomorrow!
After our bike ride we headed to the beach!
It was a perfect beach day. It was sunny, but then it got cloudy for a few hours so we had a reprieve from the heat!
There were even horses running around.
And of course it would not have been a beach day without a jumping picture (or two).
After the beach we showered and then a few of us went to dinner in Ocean City. I really wanted seafood and I was not disappointed!
When we got back some people had built a bonfire on the beach.
I was exhausted from the day so I went to bed pretty early. The life of a 30 year old!
The next day we were not happy to leave. Mainly it was the taking everything down and dragging it through the sand to the cars. Anyone walk-in beach camping bring a sled to pull your stuff!
We headed to the Ocean City boardwalk for lunch and I found a dino!
Then we had some ice cream to celebrate National Ice Cream Day!
It was a great weekend with amazing friends!
